Kasbah of Agadir Oufella: renovation project

This web project is part of the renovation of the historical heritage of the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella, an intervention that came about thanks to the royal agreement of His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the Urban Development Program (PDU) for the city of Agadir for the period 2020-2024.

The aim is to promote tourism to historic sites and monuments in the Souss Massa region, highlighting its history and culture to local residents and international visitors alike. Faced with the challenge of supporting the city’s digital development while reflecting the same dynamic as the field, we decided with the team at the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella to create a bespoke WordPress showcase website to enhance this historic site, an online ticketing service to give people quick access, and a mobile application to complete and enrich the user experience.

A multilingual WordPress showcase site

To make the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella a cultural destination, we created a multilingual showcase website in WordPress for the general public. Our aim is to offer visitors a personalized experience through an intuitive architecture that facilitates navigation, and a graphic design inspired by the Kasbah’s colors to plunge users into the heart of its history.
Customized functionalities complete the experience, enabling visitors to plan their visit with complete peace of mind, such as :

• A historical timeline, a visual tool that provides a chronological representation of the Kasbah’s history. The timeline was created using JavaScript (JS) technology to enable a more interactive experience for site visitors.
• Representative circuits have been added to the site to help visitors find their way around the Kasbah. Each circuit is encrypted on the site to enable visitors to easily follow the different stages of their visit, enabling a unique immersion in the history of the Kasbah.
• A photo and video gallery of the Kasbah Agadir Oufella has been created to enable visitors to follow the progress of restoration and rehabilitation work at the Kasbah. Photo reports are updated regularly on the site to keep visitors up to date with the latest news. The gallery is also an excellent way for visitors to discover the beauty and history of the Kasbah even before visiting it in person.
• The Kasbah’s various locations are equipped with QR codes. Once a visitor scans one of these codes with the QR reader on the website, a range of information is immediately available. The visitor can then consult this information and explore the different sites of the Kasbah.

These pages have been added to the site to enhance the customer experience, offering interactive and useful tools for finding your way around the Kasbah, better understanding its history and following its evolution.

Referenced content for more visibility

To increase the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella’s online visibility, we deployed a robust SEO strategy. Each page was carefully optimized with quality content, rich in relevant keywords to attract visitors.

By working on site structure, meta tags and links, we significantly improved the website’s positioning in Google search results. Thanks to this approach, we succeeded in attracting a wider audience and guiding them in the discovery of this architectural jewel, while making the Kasbah an essential reference in cultural tourism.

A React mobile application

To make this experience unique and rewarding, we developed an app based on React technology to guide visitors step by step through the various sites of the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella. React Native is an essential technology for developing high-performance, native mobile applications, enabling iOS and Android apps to be created with a single code base and guaranteeing similarity between IOS and Android.

The app features intuitive navigation, specially designed to simplify use. It offers tour planning, ticket booking and access to audio guides available in French, English and Arabic. Unlike traditional physical audio guides, the purchase of a ticket directly unlocks the download of these audio guides into the application, providing real-time, detailed information on the history and architecture of each site. The multilingual content and geolocation features enable visitors to organize their tour in a fun and educational way, selecting the places to explore and discovering the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella at their own pace, according to their interests.
